The paper is thin as a sketchbook should be. Suitable for most techniques. Both the soft pencil and the fat chalk give a slight graininess in the line. The charcoal, however, gives a smooth and soft surface if you work it with your fingers. Erasing the blackness of the charcoal with an eraser, for example, can produce unexpected effects.
